The Tudor Bakehouse - Bread 8th September 2010

Course Outline:

We shall be baking a variety of different breads in the Tudor bread oven in Winkhurst Kitchen. Work a day Cheat and Maslin loaves of the common folk and white Manchets of the better off. Exploring the use of both ale barm and sour dough and a variety of grains.

When we have made our dough we will fire the Tudor oven with faggots and bake our bread.

We will be working in a Tudor Kitchen around open fires. Please wear suitable warm clothing and stout shoes. You are advised to wear clothing made from natural fibres for fire safety.
